Mary Kay to invest Rs 90 Crore in India

Mary KayAiming to strengthen its presence in India, US-based cosmetic firm Mary Kay said that it will invest around Rs 90 crore in the next five years on product development, infrastructure and building its brand.

The direct selling company, which entered India in 2007, said it is focused on training its consultants and enhancing its supply chain across the country.

“We will invest around USD 20 million (around Rs 90 crore) in India over the next five years. As we expand our presence, we will be opening more offices, invest on training programmes as well as on building the brand here,” said the company official.

At present, Mary Kay employs around 4,000 direct sellers or “beauty consultants” and is looking at increasing its sales force as well as enter new markets like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Southern India by the end of the year.

Mary Kay’s products are present in 200 cities across the country, particularly in the northern, western and thenorth-eastern region.
