AURANGABAD: Giving in to long-pending demands, the GTL Urja – power distribution franchise in india of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited ( MSEDCL), has decided to expand its services in the city by establishing seven additional service centres from February. The centres would be set up in Kranti Chowk, Cantonment, Shahganj, Waluj and Cidco.
The GTL also initiated a two-day camp from Tuesday at Connaught place, Cidco, and would hold another camp at TV centre on January 23 to accept complaints of consumers. Public relations officer at the GTL, Sameer Pathak, said that the power utility would ensure that the problems of consumers are resolved within two days.
There are already two service centres at Nirala Bazaar and Pundalik Nagar road; however, consumers have been demanding that additional centres be put up in major areas of the city.
The power franchise has also decided to install complaint boxes in its billing centres. “In the first stage, these boxes would be set up in 12 places namely, Cantonment, Power house, Shahganj, Waluj, Cidco, Chikhalthana, Garkheda and Kranti Chowk,” Pathak said.
Forms would be available in the centres which would have to be filled in the given format. The consumers would me immediately contacted on their phone numbers and also replied on e-mail id, he added.
Welcoming the decision, homemaker Darshana Kunte said that the decision of providing additional services centres would be convenient. “Consumers residing in far-off areas will not have to travel to the other end of the city for bill payment or submitting their complaints,” Kunte said.
Rajesh Kharat, a professional, said that having additional service centres and complaint boxes will also help divide the crowd.
The GTL received 38 applications of complaints from consumers of which electricity meters of 12 consumers were checked and their bills were revised.
