Taiwan-based children’s apparel and accessories supplier Les Enphants Co., Ltd. has announced that it plans to expand its operations in China, and would launch around 200 new outlets there by close of the current year.
Les Enphants said subsequent to imposition of new taxes on foreign investors in China at start of 2011, and with rising cost of labour in Chinese market, it has been grappling against high operational costs, resulting in a drop in its profit-margin.
Although the rising operational costs has impacted its bottom line, Les Enphants aims to pursue with its expansion plan and open 200 new stores in China to enhance the efficiency of its China outlets and make them more profitable.
By widening its network across China, the Taiwanese firm expects a corresponding rise in its purchase bargaining power, which would render its Chinese operations more profitable.
As of March 31, 2012, the company operated 1,846 outlets in China. The firm serves as distributor of a number of international children’s apparel brands like New Balance Kids, Disney Baby, Peter Rabbit and Barbie.
Besides China, Les Enphants also has its presence in Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
