Marico Ltd, India’s personal care products maker, said on Monday its Malaysian unit acquired hair styling brand ‘Code 10’ from Colgate Palmolive Company.
The Malaysian hair styling market is estimated at 150 million Malaysia Ringgits. Code 10 is the number 3 player in the country with a double-digit market share, Marico said in an official statement.
Prior to the deal, Marico’s presence in Malaysia was through its flagship brands, Parachute and Nihar. Colgate Palmolive will continue to distribute the Code 10 range of products, comprising hair creams and hair gels, for a limited period under a transition services agreement.
