Nafed – National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India has said it will enter the Gulf and European markets with food products catering to the Indian diaspora.
Nafed will export Kerala-specific products to the Gulf using the Kochi Port, as a large number of Keralaites live in the region. The first shipment is likely in two months, Bose said.
The cooperative is in advanced stages of negotiation with traders to market India-specific products in the European market, he said, adding that depending upon the demand and requirement, a variety of products would be chosen and sent from different parts of the country.
Nafed would export products like ‘puttu pody’ (rice powder), ‘appam’, iddli mix, sambhar mix and banana chips. There will also be ready-to-eat items like ethnic frozen vegetables such as ladyfinger, bitter gourd and mushroom.
