NeST Group has acquired the Kochi unit of Tyco Electronics Tools (India) Pvt Ltd, the Indian arm of the US-based manufacturing company. “We have bought the Tyco tool room at the Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) a few weeks ago. It would meet the demand for tools and fixtures from SFO Technologies, our contract manufacturing company for aerospace and military hardware,” said N Jehangir, vice-chairman and managing director of the group. NeST Group now operates JKH Technology Centre at CSEZ which has 250 engineers involved in research and development of communication, transportation and healthcare. The new tool room will support the centre’s demands and Jehangir is planning to pump in Rs 60 crore to Rs 70 crore to upgrade it. The total cost of acquisition and upgradation is Rs 150 crore.
