Sanjiv Pandey, Marketing Manager, Franchise Advertising Fund, Subway Systems India Pvt. Ltd says: “Subway chain’s plans for India are in line with its growth plans for Asia as per which it has set a target of opening more than 3,000 restaurants by 2017.
Subway restaurant chain, the largest submarine chain in the world, has adapted itself to the Indian taste by introducing vegetarian menu for its consumers.
Currently, Subway is well known for its foot-long submarine sandwiches and salads. The Subway chain entered the India market in 2001, with the first restaurant opening in New Delhi. The chain’s steady growth in India is in large part due to its franchise business model.
All Subway restaurants are completely owned by local franchisees who are entrepreneurs that appreciate the opportunity to work hands-on. The low start-up cost, simple operation and flexible floor plans make the chain appealing to potential franchisees.
The worldwide brand recognition of Subway restaurants acts as a pull for the prospective franchisees.
