Buoyed by optimistic performance despite recent events in the country, Subway restaurants in Egypt, part of the worlds largest submarine sandwich franchise, today reaffirmed its commitment to double its outlets in 2011 and open a network of 90 locations by 2017. Expansion plans are well on track to achieve the desired objectives, according to Subway Egypt.
Egypt saw a revitalization of the Subway brand in March 2009 at the Maadi area. The increasing demand for healthy food options quickly led to the opening of three more Subway restaurants in 2010.

Our initiative to promote a healthier lifestyle with complementary food options has driven our expansion rate in the country on an unprecedented fast-track.
Subway restaurants in Egypt continue to play a vital role in raising awareness about healthier eating habits through supporting awareness campaigns organized by Egyptian communities.
Subway Egypt has also been working towards opening a new store in Heliopolis (Marghany) and another one in Rehab City.The restaurant chain aims to set up additional outlets at the Cairo Festival City, Sun City Mall, New Cairo, Alexandria-Cairo main desert road, 6th October district, as well as Mohandesein, Alexandria and Hurghada.
The Subway chain recently became the largest submarine sandwich franchise in the Arab world with more than 250 restaurants in some of the most important locations. It currently boasts 106 stores in the UAE, 44 each in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, 17 in Qatar, 11 each in Jordan and Bahrain, nine in Oman, four in Egypt and five in Lebanon.
During 2010, in the Zagat Fast Food Survey, the Subway brand was ranked at first place by consumers in the Most Popular, Top Service and Healthy Options categories for food brands with 5,000 or more locations.
