Ty Inc USA, manufacturer of the fastest selling collection of soft toys in the world has entered the Rupees 1,500-crore Indian toy market through its Indian partner Ty Toy (India) Limited.
Addressing a press conference after launching the products in the city, Ty Toy (India) CFO Srini Bonthu said Ty was the world leader in the sales of plush toys and the six categories range which was launched in the city, includes Beanie Babies, Beanie Babies 2.0, Pluffies, Punkies, Ty Classic and Ty Girlz.
Founded in 1986 by Ty Warner, creator of the widely popular Beanie babies, all the product line of Ty toys were most sought after in India. These productrs would be available in Hyderabad to begin with and it would be expanded to southern states and select cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune.
”We are very excited about our entry in Indian Market,” he added.
Ty Toy (India) CEO Padmakar Damaraju said it expected to achieve a sales target of Rs ten crore in the first year of operations. He said it was estimated that the Indian toy market was somewhere around Rs 1,500 crore and set to grow at 25 per cent.
He said there were about 5,000 different designs available in India and about 50 new designs were introduced every month to meet consumers taste.
