Vedaromes Healthcare Ltd plans to set up a new plant at Ahmedabad in Gujarat to make mouth freshener which substitutes gutkha.
“We have plant at Haryana having 30 lakh packets per day of mouth fresheners. In view of increasing demand in Western region, we are now setting up a plant at Ahmadabad in Gujarat, which is expected to be ready within next six months period,” VHL Managing Director Harshad Sanghrajka told PTI here.
The size of mouth freshener industry, which is replacing gutka in India is around Rs 95,000 crore and growing by 18 percent annually, Sanghrajka said.
The branded products have a Rs 150 crore market share. There are an estimated 120 crore consumers and a potential of Rs 1200 crore sachets per annum.
A new mouth freshener, made from herbal ingredients, has been launched by Vedaromes Healthcare in Mumbai last week would aid in quitting tobacco chewing addiction amongst people. Vedaromes Healthcare has been established specifically to develop niche products envisaging health safety as a top priority.
Gutkha was banned across India which has caused cancer to as many as 34 million peoples.
VHL’s which developed and launched its first ever patentable product herbal mouth fresher offers a similar taste and the accompanying psychological effects as gutkha and pan masala but is totally free of tobacco leaves, tar, lime, catechu, magnesium carbonate and liquid paraffin, Sanghrajka said.
